Ronaldinho.....Nuff Said!!!

A couple of years ago I was in London visiting my oldest brother. We began talking about sports as most guys do. I was fascinated by his seemed to be expert knowledge of soccer (or football for you purest). He began to tell me about a player known as “Ronaldinho”. His excitement sparked my interest and I loosely followed the progress of this player and his favorite team, the London Arsenal.

As Americans, we take to sports heroes and often create legends around them. When one player excels in a sport, we tend to exalt them in a way that creates a legend before the ink dries. The names like Jordan, Elway, Ruth Gretsky, Woods, Ruth, etc… all carry a tremendous amount of respect for their respective sport. Internationally this also happens, but very few stars are able to crossover to this extreme as in the world of soccer. Ronaldinho is this player. He is not the over hyped mega star like David Beckham, Ronaldinho is the real thing. If Neo (from the Matrix) played soccer, he would take lessons from Ronaldinho!!

This sport is played in every corner of the world with as much or even more passion than any other. Recent world cup ads ran and stated that “Wars would stop for this event.” I hope so. The world should stop to watch Ronaldinho play. He is a truly gifted individual.

On Wednesday, May 17th two powerhouse teams will meet for a match that will set the table and mood for the world cup. The London Arsenal will be playing Barcelona for the Champions League Cup. This may be one of the greatest soccer showcases the world has ever seen as two of the world premiere clubs will square off. Set your Tivo to record this match. You will need to watch some of these moves in slow motion to truly appreciate it. Ronaldinho will be playing for Barcelona and Thierry Henry will lead a star studded Arsenal team. These two will later represent there countries of Brazil and France in the World Cup, respectively. You owe it to yourself to watch this match and find out what all the hype is about.
