Key West One

This is the best I remember. Pieces of the weekend that was Key West is still trickling in like Regan Economics…but I will try to briefly sum up the reason why men should not be aloud to party together without adult supervision.

The Prologue – It started downtown at Latitudes. This was a mistake to start a weekend off on a Wednesday, but we were leaving early in the morning, so we all met downtown. Good times once again. Although it was funny to walk downtown with a huge suitcase as scantly clad dressed women walked by. A fun night was had by all and we turned in rather early.

Weds June 1st – Day 1 – “Over and Dung before it begun”

Key West is long drive away. We left at 9ish and headed down the turnpike. Riding shotgun I got to pick and choose the tunes we would listen to. Team Alpha was in the Trailblazer. The Beta team left from a secret undisclosed location almost simultaneously. Our goal, was to obtain as much crazy Boy band ass as wee could get…(didn’t happen). I guess I should give you the list of my fellow bandmates and their bios.

Team Alpha:

Adam – aka “Daddy” – A Typical heart throb with the older brother charm
John – Confusing ethnic qualities and deadly wrestler...also very dirty
Luis – The Puerto Rican lover who has a special affection to jellyfish
Me – “Darkness” for the group giving the clique a little neo-soul

Team Beta:

Nyung - aka Dung – Crazy Asian leader of the pack
Dustin – The guy with great hair
Chri$tian – Dustin little brother who made us all keep on our shirts
Kim – quiet shy guy with a little dark side to him

Together we were 8 men on a mission.

Upon our arrival we got the party goin. “daddy” had set up the hotel and rent-a-car so everything was set. We got our scooters and were racing down Duvall Street looking for happy hours. We quickly got broken up and but all reunited at Crabby Dicks. What did people do before cell phones?? Right away a tone of rowdiness and debauchery was established. Eight guys can be pretty intimidating for normal patrons. As we walked from bar to bar, we picked bar stragglers like “Hot” Rod and others who just wanted to party…some people call them groupies. We ended happy hour at some Irish pub with a singer. After a few more we designated “Dung” to go up on stage and with a girl who was tagging along with us…funny, I cant remember any names…Key west is a open minded city. Many people know that it is a gay/lesbian stronghold. We didn’t want any part of that, but I thought it was awesome that people we accepting of a Vietnamese kid… singing a country song….in a Irish Pub!! “only in a America!!

After the pub we scooted back to the hotel. Somehow I missed the memo that we were not going back out. As I got ready and took a shower, everyone else decided to drink some more and go swimming. As I was finished getting sharply dressed, and began walking to the door, the door opened to laughter as the pool was going to be the resting place for these gentlemen tonight. Annoyed, I decided to be a team player and throw back on my trunks and get head to the pool. Sure enough as I come out the bathroom, I find the door opening again with everyone telling me how they got kicked out of the pool and decided to go out!! A few expletives were uttered in the direction of my travel mates but I once again decided to have a good time.

During my time getting ready, Nyung decided to head back to Ft. Lauderdale to see his a Lady. Not Cool. We were all heated as none of us wanted to see him go. It made the trip seem odd that someone would defect before it even really got started. Especially for me when Nyung was one of the original people who invited me to tag along on this trip. Originally this trip was to set for four. The irony is that I was before January, I had only met these guys a few times on trips to Florida. They were actually just mutual friends I had heard about through my HS buddies. But Nyung, Luis, and Adam convinced me to go and I agreed, it was awkward to have an original invitee become a deserter to his fellow mates. After much discussion his mind was set, and the boy band had its first defection. We decided to carry on as their were still 3 more days of fun to be had!!

We headed out to the strip again and continued to bar hop. Had cut back my intake greatly and decided to pay more attention to the fairer sex. I ran into a buddy I met a few weeks earlier in Jacksonville at a wedding. How Ironic, after a quick chat I turned more attention to other ladies but got nowhere…Oh well, we have a few more nights!! A midnight ride and we were home after a barrage of myspace jokes, we all retired for the evening. Our livers would only get a few hours rest before the morning mimosa’s called!!

To be continued…
